At the Crown Family School, research and practice move together. For more than a century, the school has been at the forefront of tackling complex challenges, such as poverty, educational reform, crime and violence, economic instability, and health and environmental disparities. - Endowed professorships and faculty leadership to attract and retain leading scholars whose research advances policy and practice and deepens understanding of society’s complex social challenges
- Student scholarships, doctoral training, and applied learning opportunities to ensure that talented students can pursue careers in public service, community leadership, and social impact—regardless of financial circumstance
- Research initiatives addressing urgent social challenges to support interdisciplinary, policy-relevant work on issues such as violence prevention, education, poverty, health education, and child and family well-being
- Community partnerships to strengthen collaborations with government, civic institutions, schools, nonprofit organizations, and neighborhoods across Chicago and beyond
- Global health and social development initiatives to advance research and interventions addressing the social determinants of health and well-being around the world
