The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools
Dedicated teachers prepare students to think deeply, question freely, and engage the world with creativity, rigor, and purpose.
Growing Chicago minds
The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools are home to the youngest members of UChicago’s academic community. We ignite and nurture an enduring spirit of scholarship, curiosity, creativity, and confidence. We value learning experientially, exhibiting kindness, and honoring diversity.
We grow Chicago minds. Nurture Chicago minds. Challenge Chicago minds.
At the Laboratory Schools, students learn to think deeply, question freely, and engage the world around them with rigor, kindness, and creativity. Lab has long advanced a model of ambitious, student-centered education grounded in inquiry and intellectual independence. Gifts to Lab provide vital resources that strengthen innovative teaching, student programming, and financial aid, sustaining the distinctive educational experience that shapes generations of thoughtful, engaged learners.
Philanthropic support has been essential to the Laboratory Schools since its founding. Where tuition alone does not cover the full cost of a Lab education or the host of opportunities, experiences, and extracurriculars that make Lab’s education exceptional, shared participation in philanthropy helps ensure funding for the exceptional people and programs that define Lab’s distinctive educational experience.
Priorities
Your giving can support the following areas:
- Annual Fund: The Fund for Lab is the annual fund and a top priority. It is vital to the school’s financial well-being, making excellence possible across all programs, providing tuition assistance for deserving students and helping address the school’s most pressing needs in academics, athletics, professional development, financial aid, and the arts.
- Endowed Financial aid: Expand access to a Lab education by strengthening financial aid support for the students who receive assistance each year, ensuring that talented students from all backgrounds can thrive at Lab.
- Built Environment: From the turrets of Judd Hall to the lilacs of Scammons Garden, our spaces shape the Lab experience. Projects that maintain and build environments where Chicago minds can be nourished and grow are essential to sparking curiosity and wonder for Labbies.
